Poppy has some major medical issues which are currently stable. We decided her remaining 18 teeth were seriously impacting her quality of life, so before we put her through an anaesthetic which could have caused her death we did chest X-rays and ran full bloods.
Both came back okay, there was nothing new to be concerned about: no metastatic cancer to her lungs, her heart even though huge and taking up the majority of the chest cavity, was no different than her X-rays back in May.
But Poppy’s teeth were a big problem. She was struggling to eat and constantly dribbling, it was obvious she was in pain.
After a few discussions with our vets, and knowing the risks associated with putting Poppy through an anaesthetic, we decided to go ahead with removing the last of her 18 rotten teeth.
Dr Teresa had allowed time in her schedule to have another vet on hand in case Poppy crashed. But thankfully it all went smoothly, no issues at all, Poppy sailed through her surgery.
We know Poppy is so much happier just by the her breath! She’s eating fine, and we are so glad we went ahead with removing Poppy’s teeth and with that also her pain 🌸
