Isabella and Chase have been with us for almost a week, they’ve settled in like a dream, both are besotted with each other – Issy has the motherly love and washes Chase with him sitting there happily while she licks and slurps! Chase I’d say is more dependent on her, yet in the last day both of them have begun to explore their surroundings more and have even come outside without the other following.

I’ve been in touch with the young lady who found our sweet little ones. After a dentist appointment this week my hygienist was telling me about two little chihuahuas found on the Peninsula Link trail and that she’d seen the owner walking them…..coincidence that they are with me.

The sad part is Chase and Isabella were purposely dumped. They weren’t close to the walking trail, they were at least 1.5 metres in the undergrowth, if the lady hadn’t heard them squealing and they’d stayed silent who knows what could have happened. It’s an area where foxes are common and these two are just 2.1 and 2.6kgs.

Honestly there is no need to dump pets in this manner, just surrender them directly to the shelter. I can’t even imagine how Chase and Isabella would have felt as the person who they trusted walked away and left them. Vulnerable and at risk of losing their lives if they’d not been discovered.

So when I read comments saying, you shouldn’t judge, the owners may not be able to afford their care, blah blah blah.

In this case, and in many cases it’s all down to the owner. It’s nothing more than sheer neglect and cruelty to just dump a defenceless pet and tie it up in an area not seen by passers by. I have zero sympathy or respect for owners such as these, if I could say what I really feel my swear jar would be overflowing…..

Chase and Isabella are bed bugs. They love to burrow under the doona, they are like two little mice scurrying around trying to find their spot! They sleep all night, love their food, adore sitting on your lap! Both are just beyond precious.

Chase is finishing up his course of antibiotics for a cough, he does have a collapsing trachea, as does Isabella, hers not too bad.

Both are booked in for dental work next Tuesday, once Chases’ mouth has healed from what we know will be multiple extractions, it’ll be time to look for a super special quiet forever home for them.

Am I going to be fussy? You bet I am…♥️
