Our sweet little man Patches is quite unwell.

He had a lack of appetite while in the shelter, bloods were unremarkable and the diagnosis was very much focused on his anxiety in the pound.

Since his arrival last Friday, Patches has refused to eat. He’s now chronically underweight, no amount of encouragement or variety of foods are enough to get him to eat.

At this stage our vets have commenced a syringe feeding plan in the hope once Patches has some form of nutrition in his emaciated body, he will begin to want to eat of his own accord.

Our next step is to go for more advanced testing along with additional bloodwork. For now the first thing is to give him appetite stimulants and see if that helps.

Patches body score out of 5, is a 1.

He has no sign of behavioural issues, nothing that indicates he’s otherwise unwell or in pain – just the fact he’s not eating is a concern and something we’re urgently addressing and obviously concerned about.

Let’s hope little Patches begins to feel better very soon 🩵
