When Patches was surrendered to the shelter after his owner entered palliative care, it was thought he was blind and deaf. He was clearly not coping—terrified, shut down, and overwhelmed by the noise and chaos around him. The shelter was no place for a tiny senior with multiple health concerns.

After Patches arrived into foster care, we quickly discovered he wasn’t blind or deaf at all. But he was severely emaciated and barely ate. With time, patience, and a carefully managed feeding plan, Patches rediscovered his love of food—and slowly, his spark returned.

The minute foster parents Giulia and Bill walked into Ann and Bob’s home, Ann asked to hold Patches. From that moment, Ann was absolutely besotted. Bob asked for a cuddle too, but she hesitated… she just wanted to keep Patches in her arms. Their beloved little one had passed at 17, and it was clear how deeply they had loved him.

Even though they’re older, everything about this match felt right. Patches now has two laps to curl up on, two people to adore him, and twice the love he had been craving. We truly couldn’t have found a more perfect home.
