With pounds, shelters and private surrenders at an all-time high, this week has brought us the largest number of dogs we’ve seen needing care — some arriving into foster, and heartbreakingly, others we’ve had to turn away due to a lack of available carers or the financial burden that comes with each new life.
Today, we’re welcoming three little ones into our care, with more already on our radar for the coming days.
One of the lucky souls is River — a bright and excitable young Jack Russell Terrier. Her life took a new turn this morning when foster mum and dad, Giulia and Bill, were waiting at the shelter doors to take her straight from that overwhelming environment and into a loving home. And just like that, she’s already thriving.
River was surrendered to the RSPCA for reasons we hear far too often — family changes, new babies, and lives that can no longer accommodate a dog’s needs. But we’re not here to dwell on her past.
Today marks a fresh chapter for River. A clean slate, a new beginning — and we know she’s going to shine 💖
