Our sweet, quirky, beautiful little Pixie has left us.
Pixie’s medical issues were so multifocal — and she had some very unusual presenting signs that didn’t fit neatly into any box. Through it all, she remained her gentle, loving self, trying her best even when her body wasn’t doing what it should.
We wanted answers, so we sought specialist help. She was referred to a neurologist, and there was talk of meningitis, a trapped nerve, IVDD, maybe even an autoimmune disease. We hoped so much it would be something we could treat — something we could fix for her.
It’s the hardest part, sharing the truth. Though we didn’t want to hear that we were unable to treat Pixie, we were completely unprepared for what we were faced with. The MRI showed a large brain tumour, taking up almost a third of her brain. There was no way back from that, and on the advice of the neurologist, we made the heartbreaking decision to let Pixie go peacefully.
She left this world surrounded by love — the same love that carried her through her time with us.
To her foster family, thank you. You gave Pixie everything she needed: safety, comfort, and love without limits.
These are the moments in rescue that break us a little — when we do everything possible, and it still isn’t enough. But Pixie left knowing she was deeply loved, and that’s what matters most.
Run free now, Pixie. You’ll always be part of us 💫
