This month alone, and we’re only halfway through it — our vet bills have totalled $8,725.45.
Our adoption fees for the same period were $1,950.
We are so grateful for our wonderful regular donors, and the few surprise donations that have come through recently, but unfortunately it’s still nowhere near enough to cover our rising costs. As a small charity, every dollar matters.
One thing we could not survive without is the incredible support of Bunnings Mornington. Their BBQ charity initiative truly keeps us in the black. Our sausage sizzles are, without question, our biggest financial lifeline — they allow us to say “yes” to dogs who need medical care, surgeries, and treatment that would otherwise be out of reach.
Just a couple of weeks ago (yes, I’m late in thanking everyone!) we had another incredibly busy day at our BBQ, walking away with an amazing $2,100 profit. For a rescue as small as ours, that is absolutely huge. To be honest, without our Bunnings BBQs, we simply wouldn’t be able to keep up with our vet bills. That support is the difference for so many dogs in our care.
A massive thank you to the amazing team who turned up on the day and made it happen:
Sean, Janice, Bren, Richard, Martin, Carole and Summer — you’re all absolute stars.
To our regular sponsor All Washed Out — your ongoing support means the world to us.
To our wonderful suppliers:
Lindens Fresh Mornington
Bakers Delight Bentons Square
Thank you for keeping us stocked, supported, and BBQ-ready.
And of course, to Ailz and the entire team at Bunnings Mornington — your kindness directly impacts the dogs who need us most. You’re helping us give them health, safety and a second chance.
We’ll be back at Bunnings on 28th December — come down, say hello, buy a snag, and help us continue doing what we do best: saving lives 🐾
