Candy is at the clinic today undergoing surgery to remove her mammary tumours, and we are hoping with everything we have that her results come back benign.
This brave little soul deserves every chance we can give her.
We made the decision to go ahead with Candy’s first round of surgeries even though her microchip transfer is still pending. We currently believe her original owner (not the person who surrendered her to us) has passed away, and we’ve now been notified that, fingers crossed—the transfer should be processed next week, provided there are no unexpected complications.
All week we have gone back and forth:
Do we wait for the official confirmation?
Or do we step in now?
But the truth is, Candy doesn’t have the luxury of waiting. Her previous life was, in all honesty, absolutely appalling. She has endured enough delay, enough neglect, enough pain. Her medical needs must come first – so we chose the path that puts her welfare above paperwork.
Yesterday, foster mum Carolynne gave Candy a warm bath and a gentle tidy-up, getting her ready for her big day ahead. A small moment of care, but one Candy again stood so bravely for, as if she knew brighter days were coming.
Once Candy is home from the clinic, she’ll be able to recuperate and relax in comfort while we wait for her results.
If today’s news brings hope, if the tumours are not cancerous and there is no sign of metastasis, her next step will be the removal of her completely rotted teeth. One battle at a time.
Please keep our special girl close in your thoughts today.
She has been let down before, but she is not alone now – and we are all rooting for her 💛
