Hattie has fallen a little bit in love with her foster brother Silver 🩶

She follows him everywhere, her tiny little shadow. Right now, being close to him seems to make the world feel a little safer. And when we say close, we mean very close.

Her vet check went well. Hattie was being treated for dry eye at the shelter, which will need ongoing management. She also has a grade 2 MPL but is not showing any signs of lameness. Dr Caity believes Hattie has had at least one litter, possibly more – thankfully Hattie’s puppy farm days are behind her.

It is hard not to wonder what this sweet little girl has been through. For a dog who has likely spent much of her life giving to others, watching her discover comfort, safety and gentle companionship feels especially moving.

Now she is beginning to enjoy the simple things in her foster home — a soft bed, a quiet place to rest, and the comfort of having Silver close by.

Little by little, she is learning that life can be gentle, and that she is finally safe 💕
