Welcome Max 💙
This week we welcomed 4-year-old Schnauzer Max into our care after he was surrendered by a family member following the passing of his owner.
For Max, this has been a huge change. Having spent his life as a devoted companion to an elderly owner, he arrived at the shelter feeling understandably confused and timid. He had very little experience with walks, limited socialisation with people and other dogs, and was in desperate need of some TLC.
Before coming into our care, Max received extensive veterinary treatment through RSPCA Victoria, including a much-needed groom under general anaesthetic, desexing surgery, and a dental procedure to help him start this next chapter feeling his very best.
The good news is that beneath his shy exterior is an incredibly sweet little dog. In the short time he has been in foster care, Max has already begun to show his gentle and loving nature. Foster mum Cheryl reports that he was a perfect passenger while accompanying her on morning horse-feeding duties, enjoyed a walk around the oval, and happily spent the night curled up on the bed.
“He’s such a darling dog,” says Cheryl, and we couldn’t agree more.
Max still has some recovering to do, and if all goes well at his post-operative vet check late next week, we hope he will soon be ready to begin the search for his forever home.
At this stage, please no adoption enquiries while Max settles into foster care and completes his recovery.
Welcome to your new beginning, Max. 💙
