Yesterday we welcomed two precious little souls into the Sweet Paws Dog Rescue family – Chilli (1 year old) and Peppa (2½ years old).

People often assume that surrendering a beloved dog means they weren’t wanted. The truth is, that couldn’t be further from the case.

Sometimes the greatest act of love is recognising that, through no fault of your own, you can no longer give your dogs everything they deserve.

Chilli and Peppa are two of those stories.

These gorgeous young girls were deeply loved and incredibly spoilt. When they arrived, they didn’t just come with their wagging tails and sweet personalities – they came with a trailer full of their belongings. It was clear from the moment they stepped out of the car that they had never gone without a thing.

The heartbreaking part wasn’t a lack of love. It was simply life. Changing work and personal circumstances meant their family made the incredibly difficult and selfless decision to find them a home where they could continue to thrive.

To Chilli and Peppa’s family, thank you for putting their needs ahead of your own hearts. We know how painful this decision must have been, and we promise to do everything we can to ensure these beautiful girls have a wonderful future.

A huge thank you also goes to our amazing foster carers, Kelly and Tina, who didn’t hesitate to step in and offer these girls a safe place to land. With our Bunnings fundraiser taking up most of yesterday, knowing they had such a loving foster home waiting for them was an enormous relief. It hasn’t taken long for Kelly and Tina to fall completely under their spell—these two little love bugs have already stolen a few hearts!

Next week Chilli and Peppa will visit our wonderful Dr Kyle for their health checks, and until then we’re sure Kelly and Tina will be enjoying every cuddle, tail wag and happy moment these girls have to offer.
