We’re waiting on Candy’s bloodwork to come back from pathology, and once we have those results, we can start making plans for her treatment.

Her vet visit this week revealed a lot that needs our attention.
Candy has two mammary lumps, one the size of a golf ball, the other a little smaller — and those will be our first priority. Before we can do anything else, we need to know whether they’re benign or malignant.

She’ll also need to be desexed, and sadly, every one of her teeth is rotten and will need to be removed.

She’s been vaccinated, had bloods taken, and started on medication for her eyes.

Candy’s right eye has a mature cataract with uveitis, leaving her blind on that side, and her left eye has a developing cataract. She’s arthritic and so very underweight, her body score condition just 2/5 — a fragile 3.5kg.

When she arrived, her foster mum Carolynne gently bathed her and tidied up her frail little body. Candy just stood there quietly, stoic and calm, as if she understood that, finally, someone was helping her. For the first time in a very long time, she was being cared for — not discarded, not ignored.

Now she sleeps, a lot. And that’s okay. After sixteen long years, she’s warm, safe, and inside. No more cold nights. No more being alone. Just soft blankets, gentle hands, and love.

Once her results come back, we’ll begin her surgical treatment.

Thank you for all the kind messages and support for this brave, beautiful soul — she’s finally getting her chance to rest and heal 💕
