Owen has been diagnosed with colitis and severely infected anal glands (both enlarged to around the size of golf balls 😞). He’s been started on a five-day course of antibiotics and will be reviewed in a week. Depending on how he responds, he may require an anal gland flush procedure.

Despite this, we’re seeing some really positive changes already – no more indoor accidents (touch wood), firmer poos, a much better appetite and real enthusiasm at meal times. He’s happier, more affectionate, and has slept through the night for the past two nights, previously he was waking multiple times overnight.

This morning he responded well to commands like sit and shake, was less resistant to taking his medication, and even whined when left at home for the first time since arriving — a sign he’s forming a bond and starting to feel safe.
