Surrender. A word we hear far too often.
Sometimes, there are truly valid reasons. Life can change in ways people can’t control.
And then, well then there are cases like Oscar.
Left alone for 8 hours a day, five days a week.
Unvaccinated.
Painful ears with discharge.
Skin so neglected it had thickened and hardened.
Overgrown nails.
Severe abdominal pain, vomiting, later diagnosed as pancreatitis.
This isn’t just “life getting in the way.” This is neglect.
Oscar was handed in to RSPCA Victoria, and despite everything he’d endured, this little dog was given a second chance. His medical needs were finally addressed, and now he has made his way into the loving care of his foster mum, Brodie.
And this is where Oscar’s story begins to change ❤️
He is a true Velcro dog — completely devoted, always wanting to be close, as if he’s making up for lost time. He has settled in beautifully, and honestly, who could blame him? After what he came from, warmth, safety, and love must feel like a whole new world.
Oscar has a vet visit on Tuesday, as he’s currently incredibly itchy — something we’ll be addressing as a priority, along with anything else he needs to finally feel comfortable in his own skin.
But despite it all, look at him now…
Sleeping in bed with his foster mum (that didn’t take long!).
His dog bed? Ignored. The big bed is clearly where he belongs.
Following her from room to room — even waiting patiently outside the bathroom door.
He hasn’t let his past harden him. If anything, it’s made him love harder.
Welcome to a new life Oscar, we’re pleased to have you onboard – you deserved this all along 🩵
