💕 Hazel is still waiting for someone to choose her.
Hazel’s story is one of the reasons rescue matters so much.
She spent the beginning of her life in an intensive breeding facility, never knowing what it felt like to simply be a dog. When she came into foster care, she was completely shut down — terrified of the world, frightened of her own shadow and unsure whether people could be trusted.
But slowly, patiently, with love… Hazel began to change.
Today, she looks forward to her walks. She loves stretching her legs with a run in a securely fenced dog park. She follows her foster family from room to room, quietly becoming their little shadow. And in the car, she melts into gentle pats and happily leans in for affection.
She may not climb into your lap or shower you with kisses yet, but Hazel loves deeply in her own way.
And watching her discover that the world can be safe, kind and full of wonderful things has been one of the most beautiful parts of her journey.
Her foster sisters have been incredibly important in helping Hazel find her confidence, which is why a friendly, confident canine companion is essential for her forever home. She needs another dog to show her that she is safe and that life is meant to be enjoyed.
Hazel has also become an absolute superstar with her weekly medicated baths. She stands beautifully, patiently allows herself to be blow-dried and doesn’t even cover you in water afterwards! ⭐
But Hazel does need a very special family.

Hazel has ongoing skin issues that will require lifelong management, including appropriate treatment, diet and regular veterinary monitoring. She is currently comfortable, but her new family must be prepared to continue this care.
Hazel isn’t looking for a perfect family. She’s looking for someone who will see the frightened little girl she once was, celebrate the brave girl she has become, and give her the time and love to become everything she was always meant to be.
She won’t necessarily run into your arms on the first day.
