We absolutely LOVE getting updates like this 🌼

This is from Susan, who adopted beautiful little Daisy from our Bichon Babes group we took in from RSPCA VIC just over a year ago.

Daisy had a really rough start to life. She came to us an incredibly anxious and fearful little girl who found the world, and especially people, very scary. Her new mum Susan has spent the past year patiently helping her find her confidence, with a little help from her new four-legged best friend too.

One of Daisy’s biggest hurdles was the car. Even a five-minute trip could leave her drooling, vomiting and absolutely terrified. After working with her vet and eventually a Behavioural Specialist Vet, they found the right medication and slowly, slowly things started to change.

And now…..

Daisy is calmer, happier and much more relaxed meeting new people. She can travel in the car without the fear and, perhaps most importantly, she’s discovering just how much fun life can be.

Today, after a visit to the vet, Susan stopped at the beach for a stroll with Daisy — something she once wondered if they would ever be able to do together.

And we loved hearing that Daisy even popped into our Bunnings sausage sizzle a few weeks ago! She met some of the SPDR team, calmly walked beside Susan through the store and apparently gave everyone a little glimpse of the brave girl she is becoming. What a milestone!

Susan says Daisy brings her so much joy and laughter, loves nothing more than snuggling on her knee and is very much a loved member of the family.

This is why we do what we do.

Not every rescue story is an instant transformation. Sometimes it takes months of patience, vet care, understanding and simply giving a little dog the time and safety they need to work things out.

And then one day, you realise that the terrified little dog who once couldn’t cope with a five-minute car trip is happily strolling along the beach with their family.

Thank you Susan for never giving up on Daisy, for giving her the time she needed and for sending us this wonderful update.

And Daisy… keep enjoying those adventures, gorgeous girl. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings!
